Last about 18 years Success Story of CETP Unnao
UTPCC was constituted under section (U/S) 25 of Co’s Aact 1956 of Govt. of India. As per the scheme of Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India the co. setup a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) with the assistance of World Bank. The plant was commissioned in October 1995 and since then it is performing successfully. CETP-Unnao has been an example for the others in the state. This plant has also been audited by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and provided substantial technological supports including various sophisticated monitoring equipments. UNIDO has appreciated the CETP Unnao in writing. Socio-benefit of this plant can be observed from the fact that about 4000 kg solid waste is recovered from wastewater every day since 1996 thatwas other wise flown into Loni-Drain before the CETP came into existence. And about 20 - 24 lakh liter wastewater is treated every day from CETP Unnao. A Quantitative Matrix of its outputs is depicted hereunder to evaluate the success story of the CETP Unnao:
These are effort of Compliant member units who are co-operating with the CETP Unnao
Degree of Pollution in Loni Drain before CETP Unnao in 1995
- 1. pH=9 to10
- 2. BOD=250-1000
- 3. COD= 300-3000
- 4. SS = 4000-6000
- Total Cr= 150-200
Reduced Degree of Pollution in Loni Drain after CETP Unnao upgraded in October 2013(Parameters within the limits of prescribed norms of UPPCB)
- 1. pH=7 to 8
- 2. BOD=20-30
- 3. COD=175-240
- 4. SS = 60-90
- Total Cr= 0.03 to 1
Visible effect of reduced-pollution load in the Loni Drain
- 1. One can walk along the drain
- 2. No foul odours even when drain is badly maintained by Irrigation department
- 3. Loni Drain is as it is since last 18 years, on the contratery it's flow has been reversed due to its poor clogging stage.
- 4. No toxic effects are seen in the water flowing from CETP.
